Each of the two franchises would pick 5 players from the released draft, and the remaining would go for auctions. The draft pick would be held tomorrow, i.e. 15 December 2015, and the auctions would be held on February 6 next year.

The two new franchises were added after the Chennai Super Kings and the Rajasthan Royals were suspended from the IPL by the Honourable Supreme Court of India, on the recommendations of the Justice Lodha Committee that was appointed to investigate the Corruption Scandal of 2013.
